Where the Murderbot stories form an enslavement narrative as personal journey and healing, the Rising World series applies a wider cultural lens to trauma and loss.
Kai has seen his world ripped apart twice: the way to the underneath, the world of his birth, is shut off; the world of his above existence, the world of the Saredi, is also gone, both of them murdered by the Hierarchs. (You could argue that the third traumatizing loss-of-world is losing Bashasa, but that lies in the gap between past and present narratives.) In the past narrative, a vanquished Kai himself is imprisoned in the Summer Halls until Bashasa frees him and he joins the ad hoc rebellion.

I spend too much time being miserable in my work and/or social media. I’m trying to kick both habits by being present here on my blog. I had basically stopped journaling last term, and I’d like to correct that. I blog on friends-lock for the most part, because I don’t need to be doxxed by randos, but I am pretty liberal with “friending” new readers, just PM me.
Fandom-wise, I’d like to dust off some WIPs (*cough* Inkstains *cough*) if anyone out there still wants to read my dreck.

Сегодня первый день работы, встала я впритык, потому что из дома. Почти все еще в отпуске. Я с утра писала реквесты про перенос Jira на pForge. Потом редактировала документ.

Странно вспомнить, когда то, в 2005, я ставила на свои посты глаз и смотрела, сколько человек прочитало. Тогда было интересно, а сейчас совсем нет - сколько.
Во Франции grand froid, холодно ужасно, гулять не хочется. Обещают гололед и снег, а потом холодный дождь.
Вчера я ходила только за молоком в биомагазин, а сегодня на рынок за цветами и мясом. Купила букет первых нарциссов, и он сейчас расцветает после холода, как бабочки вылетают из куколок. Уже три.
Купила оссобуко и joue de bœuf. Наконец отщипнула оригано из горшка, к этому моменту он готовился полгода.
Вчера были в театре, в прекрасном здании Comédie française, на Школе танцев. Увы, понимаю я примерно половину. Учить еще язык и учить.

Importing your journal from ЖЖ may be slow. There are a lot of you, with many posts and comments, and we have to limit how fast we download your information from ЖЖ so they don't block us. Please be patient! We have been watching and fixing errors, and we will go back to doing that after the holiday is over.
I am very sorry that we can't translate the site into Russian or offer support in Russian. We are a much, much smaller company than LiveJournal is, and my high school Russian classes were a very long time ago :) But at least we aren't owned by Sberbank!
